It turns out that the sprained left thumb that Desmond Mason sustained during Thursday's game is pretty serious. He has a torn ligament in the joint and is expected to miss about 6-8 weeks, according to the AP. Look for Bobby Simmons or Charlie Bell to move into the starting lineup, though both could benefit from the extra minutes available while Mason is out.

Bucks forward Desmond Mason sprained his left thumb towards the end of the first half and did not return to the game, the AP reported.

It appears likely that Desmond Mason will return to his former team, the Milwaukee Bucks. "We've had some really good talks with Larry (Harris)," Mason's agent, Roger Montgomery, said Monday to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "We're optimistic that Desmond can return." Mason has spent the last two years playing for the Hornets. His best season came in 2004-05 with the Bucks when he averaged 17.2 points per game.

Desmond Mason left Wednesday's game after taking an elbow in the eye from Seattle's Chris Wilcox, the AP reports. Mason is considered day-to-day, with results of a CT scan still pending.

Desmond Mason was ejected from Saturday's game in the first quarter after a confrontation with Houston's Rafer Alston following a hard foul on Tracy McGrady. Alston was also ejected.
