Heat sign Magloire Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Miami Heat signed free agent center Jamaal
Magloire on Tuesday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We are very fortunate to be able to come to terms with Jamaal Magloire," said
Heat president Pat Riley. "We feel that he will dramatically support our post
position. He is an excellent rebounder with a big body. On the defensive end
he will plug up the paint and on the offensive end he can score. We feel that
this is definitely the right place for him to re-energize his career."

The Heat are holding a spot on their roster in case Alonzo Mourning is deemed healthy enough to return from the knee injury that ended his 2007 campaign, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Pat Riley said, "We have to remember that this guy (Mourning) has proven above and beyond a doubt that he is capable of coming back from anything. We can never, ever discount the size of this man's heart, his courage and his will that he could overcome this, too. So, there'll always be an open mind to that."
The Miami Heat and restricted free agent guard Chris Quinn remain in negotiations on a new contract after the team made him a qualifying offer of $1 million, according to the Miami Herald.
