Blazers' Frye could miss start of season
Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Portland Trail Blazers forward Channing Frye could miss the start of the regular season after undergoing surgery to have bone spurs removed from his left ankle.

Tests over the weekend revealed the problem and arthroscopic surgery was performed Monday. Frye is expected to be sidelined for at least two months and the Blazers open the 2008-09 campaign on October 28 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Steve Blake's hamstring injury is more severe than initially believed and he could miss an extended amount of time, according to The Oregonian.

Center Greg Oden "tweaked" his right ankle in practice on Tuesday, The Oregonian reports. He suffered the injury while battling fellow big man Joel Przybilla on a rebound. "It's just a little tweak; it wasn't like it was a major turn," general manager Kevin Pritchard says. "It was Grade One, and that means he could have probably gone back in there."
