Tampa Bay veteran rusher Warrick Dunn may not be the young man he once was when he first donned the Bucs jersey, but he has every intent to fight for the starting job as he returns in 2008, according to the Tampa Tribune.
March 10, 2008
Warrick Dunn has signed a 3-year, $6 million contract in order to play with the Buccaneers, this according to the Dallas Morning News. Dunn will support Ernest Graham as a pass catching threat who can give Graham an occasional break as both runners certainly bring different running styles to the table. Coming off a season where he averaged just 3.1 YPC and caught only 37 passes, the question for Dunn is how much does he have left?

Add the Tennessee Titans to the list of teams interested in free agent running back Warrick Dunn, according to the City Paper. “We could do a one-two punch, but you may look for a guy who is more of a third-down, or more of a situational type back,” general manager Mike Reinfeldt said of the free agents available. “That’s why you bring people in to look at and kind of evaluate how they fit and continue the process.” The Titans have discussed Warrick Dunn, but have yet to bring him in for a visit. There is a strong possibility that Tennessee will wait and address the position in the draft, given that the 2008 class is so deep at that spot.

The Dallas Cowboys appear to be genuinely interested about adding running back Warrick Dunn to the roster, according to Pro Football Weekly. Dunn’s representatives have already contacted Dallas, where Dunn could provide a nice change of pace to Marion Barber. Dunn has been overused in recent years, especially given his age, and if he could get a diet of 8-12 touches per game, he might be a very productive back on a per-rep basis. Dunn has said he would like to play one more season before retiring.

Updating a previous story, running back Warrick Dunn is receiving interest from a multitude of teams, according to the Houston Chronicle. The teams listed as potential suitors include the Houston Texans, the Detroit Lions, and the Denver Broncos. The Texans are reportedly seeking to meet with the veteran running back while the others are reported to have made contact with Dunn's agent.
