Warrick Dunn has signed a 3-year, $6 million contract in order to play with the Buccaneers, this according to the Dallas Morning News. Dunn will support Ernest Graham as a pass catching threat who can give Graham an occasional break as both runners certainly bring different running styles to the table. Coming off a season where he averaged just 3.1 YPC and caught only 37 passes, the question for Dunn is how much does he have left?

Add the Tennessee Titans to the list of teams interested in free agent running back Warrick Dunn, according to the City Paper. “We could do a one-two punch, but you may look for a guy who is more of a third-down, or more of a situational type back,” general manager Mike Reinfeldt said of the free agents available. “That’s why you bring people in to look at and kind of evaluate how they fit and continue the process.” The Titans have discussed Warrick Dunn, but have yet to bring him in for a visit. There is a strong possibility that Tennessee will wait and address the position in the draft, given that the 2008 class is so deep at that spot.

The Dallas Cowboys appear to be genuinely interested about adding running back Warrick Dunn to the roster, according to Pro Football Weekly. Dunn’s representatives have already contacted Dallas, where Dunn could provide a nice change of pace to Marion Barber. Dunn has been overused in recent years, especially given his age, and if he could get a diet of 8-12 touches per game, he might be a very productive back on a per-rep basis. Dunn has said he would like to play one more season before retiring.

Updating a previous story, running back Warrick Dunn is receiving interest from a multitude of teams, according to the Houston Chronicle. The teams listed as potential suitors include the Houston Texans, the Detroit Lions, and the Denver Broncos. The representatives for running back Warrick Dunn have put in a call to the Dallas Cowboys to gauge their interest in signing the recently released veteran, according to the Dallas Morning News. "The Cowboys are on Warrick's radar," said a representative at CAA, the firm that represents Dunn. CAA has not heard back with definitive word from Dallas. Dunn, 33, is one of just 22 backs in NFL history to rush for more than 10,000 yards. In 2007, his streak of three straight 1,000-yard seasons was snapped, as Dunn rushed for 720 yards and averaged 3.2 yards per carry. Dunn could provide a versatile compliment to Marion Barber in Dallas.
March 3, 2008
The Tampa Tribune reports that Warrick Dunn could be a Buccaneer again very soon, maybe as soon as Monday night. Just hours after being released by the Atlanta Falcons Monday, Dunn began his official visit with the Bucs, according to agent Jim Steiner. All indications have pointed to Dunn joining the Colts or the Texans, but being signed as insurance for a injury-riddled Bucs team could happen.
March 3, 2008
The Houston Texans are interested in bringing in veteran running back Warrick Dunn for a visit, according to the Houston Chronicle. Dunn played for Alex Gibbs, the Texans' assistant head coach who is installing the same zone-blocking system he used in Denver and Atlanta. Dunn, 33, is one of the true class acts in the NFL, but the organization didn’t have much luck bringing in an aging veteran back (Ahman Green) last year. The Texans, Cowboys, Buccaneers and Broncos appear to be interested in Dunn.
March 3, 2008
The Atlanta Falcons have parted ways with veteran tailback Warrick Dunn, according to a report on Pro Football Talk. Dunn asked to be released after the organization signed running back Michael Turner this weekend. Dunn is free to sign with any of the other 31 NFL teams, with Detroit and Indianapolis as possible landing spots according to rumors in the media.

The Detroit Lions are interested in adding a running back that can make people miss and reportedly will have interest in Warrick Dunn if he’s released by Atlanta, according to mlive.com. Dunn, 33, is better suited for a timeshare role at this stage of his career. The Lions are also interested in Julius Jones, and will likely draft a back during the first day of the 2008 NFL draft.
March 2, 2008
With the signing of Michael Turner, it's clear that the Falcons plan on moving forward without veteran Warrick Dunn. Dunn has requested his release from the team, according to SI.com. The team will almost surely honor his request. Assuming the 33-year-old is released, SI considers Houston the favorite to sign Dunn because of Alex Gibbs, who was hired by the Texans in January. Gibbs was the o-line coach in Atlanta for three of Dunn's six seasons and will be implementing the zone-blocking scheme in Houston that Dunn was so successful in in Atlanta. Indianapolis, Dallas and Denver have also been mentioned as possible landing spot for the veteran.
