Stephen Davis had microfracture surgery on his right knee. It's the same procedure that DeShaun Foster underwent in 2002. Foster was able to return in 2003, but Davis, 31, is six years older. Even if he returns in time to play next season, he may not be physically capable of opening the season as the starter.
