Isaac Bruce was back on the practice field Monday after missing Saturday's preseason tilt with a hamstring injury, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Bruce "is still not turning it over full-speed, which is OK," coach Scott Linehan said. "But at some point we're going to have to get him to test that and make sure he feels 100 percent." Linehan said that Bruce could play in Thursday's preseason finale.

Isaac Bruce was a late scratch from yesterday's preseason contest, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Bruce is nursing a tight hamstring and was held out of the game as a precaution. "His hamstring is probably about 80 percent, and he did hurt it (Wednesday)," coach Scott Linehan said. "He practiced about three-quarters speed most of the week. He says it doesn't feel very good. We actually went out and worked him out (during pregame), and he just felt like it was too tight. I didn't want to risk any further injury."

Isaac Bruce agreed to a three-year deal with the Rams on Friday, four days after being released in a salary cap move, according to the AP. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. "I'm excited that we have worked out a deal," new Rams coach Scott Linehan said. "I'd been optimistic all along that we would be able to get this done. He epitomizes what it means to be a Ram. He has meant a lot to this organization both on and off the field and I'm excited that will continue."

Rams head coach Scott Linehan expressed optimism yesterday that Isaac Bruce would re-sign with the club after being released Sunday evening, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. However, the Lions, Texans and Redskins were among four teams that already had contacted the free agent yesterday.

The Rams released Isaac Bruce on Sunday night because they were unable to reach agreement on a contract extension that would lower his salary cap number in 2006, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Bruce is now free to negotiate and sign with any team, no strings attached. "We do want Isaac to remain a Ram," Rams president of football operations Jay Zygmunt said. "We're still hopeful that we can get something done in the near future."

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Rams could cut Isaac Bruce rather than carry his $10 million salary cap figure into the 2006 season. The team is offering Bruce an extension worth $9 million over three years, including $5 million this season in the form of roster bonus and signing bonus. Under the extension, Bruce would make $3.1 million less in 2006 than he is currently scheduled to make.
