Priest Holmes, who recently underwent his first neurological tests since being placed on injured reserve, is "doing much better clinically," according to the Kansas City Star. Holmes will have more tests in about 60 days, and will make a decision on his future sometime after that.

He said his condition has been diagnosed as pressure on his spine, there isn’t a lump and he isn’t in any pain. "I can tell you one thing," Holmes said. "I’m not one to look 20, 30 years down the road. I really look at the next two, three, five years, and I really see myself playing."

Herman Morris, the father of Priest Holmes, said Thursday that Holmes was not thinking about retirement, according to the Kansas City Star. "He’s not contemplating retirement," Morris said. "He wants to go out on top. He wants to go out his way."

Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson announced that Priest Holmes has been placed on injured reserve and will therefore miss the rest of the season. The Chiefs have indicated that Holmes' injuries are not career threatening, but Holmes has hinted in the past that he may retire soon, regardless.

ESPN.com reports that Priest Holmes is likely to miss the rest of the season after missing Sunday's game with a concussion and a shoulder injury. Coach Dick Vermeil is expected to update Holmes' status later this afternoon. Chiefs spokesman Pete Moris denied a report that Holmes could announce his retirement as soon as Thursday.

Coach Dick Vermeil thinks Priest Holmes, who is recovering from a concussion and a shoulder injury, might be able to play against the Bills this week, according to the Kansas City Star. "Personally, I think Priest will be back, but I’m not the doctor giving that opinion," Vermeil said on Monday. "He’s going to a different doctor for an exam. He flies today, he’s there tomorrow and then he’s back. The doctors want to be very thorough of the situation. What I believe is going to happen is that they will say he’s free to play."

"We’re going to get more evaluation on him,” coach Dick Vermeil said, “reports that will confirm to him and give him confidence that he’s healthy and ready to go. He’s had some problem with a nerve earlier in the season. He wanted to make sure, No. 1, that he feels good about it.”
