The Tacoma Tribune's Frank Hughes is speculating that Matt Hasselbeck might have suffered a concussion during Sunday's loss to Arizona. During the post-game press conference, a normally articulate Hasselbeck seemed "flighty and seemed confused" and repeatedly said he didn't know how to answer a question, something he never does. Hughes also said Hasselbeck's eyes were glazed over and that he expects some of the Cardinals players are going to get fined for late hits.

Dr. James Gladstone, the co-chief of sports medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, said that it seems very unlikely that Hasselbeck's knee injury in any way had an affect on his back. Hasselbeck has received a cortisone shot for his back. It's not clear if he'll require any additional shots.

Matt Hasselbeck, like AFC representative Ben Roethlisberger, didn't contribute much in the way of yardage in Sunday's Pro Bowl, but did find Redskins tight end Chris Cooley for a 17-yard touchdown in the second quarter of the 42-30 win over the AFC. Hasselbeck was 7-of-9 for 78 yards and the one touchdown.

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed in principle to a five-year contract extension with Jim Mora Jr., according to ESPN.com. Mora has been promoted to assistant head coach, and will also continue to focus on the defensive backfield. This situation is similar to the one in Indianapolis involving Tony Dungy and Jim Caldwell. It appears that Mora will takeover as the head coach in 2008 after Mike Holmgren retires.
