December 31, 2006
Fred Taylor is active and starting for the Jaguars today despite his strained hamstring. He's obviously at risk to suffer a recurrence of the injury.
December 30, 2006
Fred Taylor still plans to play tomorrow, even though he hasn't tested his strained hamstring by running at full speed this week, according to the Florida Times-Union. "I haven't opened it up, but I feel confident about it," Taylor said. "It's feeling better this week than it felt the week leading into the Tennessee game [when he aggravated the injury]."
December 29, 2006
Fred Taylor doesn't expect his hamstring to be a major issue Sunday at Kansas City, according to the Florida Times-Union. Taylor would like to get on the field to make one more statement about his future value; he's not happy with his current contract and doesn't want to play out the 2007 season for the existing base salary of $2.55 million. Taylor told the paper that he'd probably ask for a trade rather than run out the contract. "I don't think I want to try and play that out." The Jaguars should be dealing from a position of strength, of course, given the explosive rookie season of Maurice Jones-Drew.
December 28, 2006
The Florida Times-Union reports that Fred Taylor was able to return to practice on Wednesday. Taylor hopes to return to action this weekend after sitting out Week 16's contest with a hamstring injury. "I've been running around," Taylor said. "I'm going to attempt [to run full-speed] tomorrow or even Friday. I want to at least get it [the hamstring] exposed so there won't be any surprises on Sunday."
December 22, 2006
Fred Taylor has been ruled out for this weekend's contest against the Patriots with his hamstring injury, according to ESPN.com. Maurice Jones-Drew will start in his place.
December 21, 2006
Fred Taylor sat out practice Thursday for the second consecutive day and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, according to the AP. Taylor, who suffered a strained hamstring Dec 10 and only carried the ball twice last week, is hoping to get back on the field Friday.
December 21, 2006
Fred Taylor was held out of practice yesterday to rest his strained hamstring, according to the Florida Times-Union. The Jags are listing him as questionable, and it appears there's a legitimate chance he will miss this weekend's game. Maurice Jones-Drew would start in that case, with LaBrandon Toefield getting some carries.
December 20, 2006
Fred Taylor is questionable for this week's game because of a hamstring injury, according to Sports Network. Taylor was injured in the first quarter this past Sunday and didn't return to the game. Maurice Jones-Drew would get the start if Taylor were to sit out.
December 19, 2006
It's uncertain if Fred Taylor will be able to return from his hamstring injury to play against New England in Week 16, according to the Florida Times-Union. "It's still too early in the week to know [whether he'll be available]," coach Jack Del Rio said. "Whatever he did to aggravate it, he didn't go in there and destroy the muscle where he'd be spending considerable time down. It's just a matter of whether he'll be able to go this week or need to wait."
December 17, 2006
Fred Taylor aggravated his hamstring injury in the first quarter on Sunday and did not return to the game. Taylor carried twice for 37 yards. He pulled up lame at the end of a 35-yard run that could have been a TD if not for the injury.
December 15, 2006
Fred Taylor returned to practice Thursday with his sore hamstring, but Maurice Drew sat out a second consecutive day with his calf injury, the Florida Times-Union reports. Both running backs said they expect to play at Tennessee.

December 12, 2006

Taylor called the injury "just another hurdle," adding, "I'm good." Coach Jack Del Rio is expected to update Taylor's status on Wednesday.
December 10, 2006
Fred Taylor gained 131 yards on nine carries Sunday but had to leave the game with a sore right hamstring, according to the AP. The severity of Taylor's injury isn't known at this time.
November 21, 2006
A heavy workload spurred Fred Taylor to a solid fantasy game against the Giants Monday (95 total yards, one touchdown). The Jaguars probably would have liked more; Taylor made just 3.3 yards a carry on his 24 rushes, and he lost a fumble inside the Giants 5-yard line.
November 10, 2006
Fred Taylor has been able to practice the last two days despite a sore groin. He's listed as probable for Sunday's game with Houston, and there's no sign that Taylor won't be able to start or take on his normal workload.
August 30, 2006

August 22, 2006
Coach Jack Del Rio stated on Monday that Fred Taylor will open the season as the Jaguars starting running back, according to the Florida Times-Union. However, Greg Jones is still likely to eat into Taylor's carries and could challenge for the starting job during the season.
August 10, 2006
Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio appeared to leave the door open for Fred Taylor to be challenged by Greg Jones for his starting job, according to the Florida Times-Union. "I hate to get into a speculation game," he said. "I think the best way to approach it is we're going to let guys work, so roles will be determined over the course of the next three or four weeks. We always have the ability to be flexible and adjust as the need arises this year. If everything went according to the way we anticipate, it would be the same [as last season], but we're going to see. We've got some time to look at that across the board. Where we have legitimate competition, we're going to play the best guys who give us a chance to be successful."
August 9, 2006
The Florida Times-Union reports that Fred Taylor is back after suffering a mildly strained hamstring before camp opened. Taylor has been prone to injury, so this isn't how you'd like to see his training camp get underway.
July 30, 2006
Fred Taylor has been limited at the start of the Jaguars training camp because of a pulled right hamstring that he suffered Thursday, according to the Florida Times-Union. Taylor has battled injuries his whole career, so it's not a surprise to see him injured already, although the hamstring pull is considered mild. "The timing stinks," Taylor said. "It's hard to understand. Some things in life, you just can't figure out why they happen. They just do."
April 13, 2006
Fred Taylor isn't sure that his future lies with the Jaguars, according to the Florida Times-Union. "There are 31 other teams in this league, and I'm good enough to play for somebody," Taylor said this week. "I'm going to do what I need to do to take care of myself, and they're going to do what they have to do to take care of the organization. It's a business. If somebody were to fall into free agency that was better than me, they would snatch him up in a heartbeat, and I would be on the street." Taylor is not taking part in the Jaguars voluntary conditioning program.
April 11, 2006

He said he doesn't plan to participate in the program at all this year."I worked out with the team for eight years, and it might sound a little selfish, but now it's time for Fred to take care of Fred," said Taylor. However, he did state that he plans to take part in the team's minicamps and on-field activities.
