The Steelers plan to make extending the contract of Hines Ward their top priority after this season, when Ward will have one year left on his current deal, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "Certainly, Hines would be our No. 1 priority, in terms of people that are going to be going into their last year," team president Art Rooney II said. Ward has been a little miffed that they haven't re-done his contract all ready.

"Until Eugene (Parker, his agent,) tells me otherwise, I am planning on reporting to camp," Ward said. "That is my plan to be there. I never even considered (being late). That's the last resort, I think. We don't see it being a problem."

"I'm happy for Tommy; I think he's well deserving of an extension," Ward said. "But why do Tommy and not Hines? That's the question I asked. I didn't get an answer."
