Hines Ward returned from his knee injury to catch four passes for 59 yards on Sunday. Those numbers aren't bad considering that Ben Roethlisberger attempted only 18 passes on the day.

"They took out some bone fragments that broke, and cleaned up some loose particles," Ward said. "It was just an extra piece of bone that was there, it's not like I needed it. While they were in there, they cleaned it all up. I shouldn't have a problem, it feels good, and the swelling's going down."

Hines Ward had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Monday and will miss at least one game, the AP reports. "It's going to be at least one week," said Ward, who has missed only one previous game to injury during his nine-season NFL career. "I'm going to try to get back out there, but I've got to be smart about it . . . this is the first time I've ever had surgery." Ward said the team's 4-7 record - which essentially has the Steelers out of the playoff race - would not delay when he came back to action.

The Steelers signed wide receiver Walter Young from their practice squad yesterday, likely as insurance in case Ward is unable to play through his hyperextended knee today. It looks like Ward will be a game-time call.
