Stephen Alexander, who is a Broncos unrestricted free agent, is expected to retire this offseason, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The Broncos placed Alexander on injured reserve this past October. The veteran tight end was unable to stay healthy this season due to a fractured fibula.

The Broncos waived veteran tight end Stephen Alexander on Saturday and signed converted tackle Chad Mustard for the second time this month, the AP reports. Alexander had been hampered by a calf injury during training camp and had been listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Oakland.

Stephen Alexander did not practice on Wednesday due to a sore calf, the Rocky Mountain News reports. He was inactive in week 1 due to the ailment but did practice late last week.
