Daunte Culpepper missed another practice Friday due to a quad injury and is doubtful for Sunday's game. Josh McCown will start, and coach Lane Kiffin said he will gauge Culpepper's readiness in pregame warm-ups to determine whether he is healthy enough to be the backup, according to the Oakland Tribune. If Culpepper can't play, Andrew Walter will be the backup and JaMarcus Russell would have clipboard duty.
December 7, 2007
Daunte Culpepper did not practice on Thursday due to a sore right quad, the Oakland Tribune reports. He also sat out on Wednesday. Lane Kiffin hasn't named a starter, but we'd be surprised if Josh McCown isn't starting when the Raiders visit Green Bay this Sunday.
December 5, 2007
Raiders coach Lane Kiffin is unsure as to who will start this Sunday in Green Bay, he did mention that it is between Daunte Culpepper and Josh McCown, leaving JaMarcus Russell holding a clipboard at least for the time being. Russell saw his first NFL action last week, but evidently is not ready to start. McCown and Culpepper have each started six games for the Raiders this season.

Daunte Culpepper (quad) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Josh McCown will start in his place. There's no fantasy value here.
November 30, 2007
The one thing we know for sure is that rookie JaMarcus Russell will not get the start at quarterback for the Oakland Raiders this Sunday when they face off against the Denver Broncos. On Friday Josh McCown took the majority of the snaps with the first team offense even thought he has two dislocated joints in his non-throwing hand. Daunte Culpepper is questionable for Sunday as he nurses a sore quadriceps muscle. If Culpepper is unable to go, it will be McCown getting the nod on Sunday, but it will most likely be a game-time decision.
November 30, 2007
Daunte Culpepper was limited on Thursday due to a sore right quad, but he is still expected to start in Week 13. "I feel good enough," Culpepper tells the Oakland Tribune. "I feel like now I will be (the starter), but I'm not going to push it. I'll see how it feels (on Friday)."
November 14, 2007
Quarterback Daunte Culpepper will start on Sunday against his former team, the Minnesota Vikings. The start comes to Culpepper by way of the benching of one Josh McCown, who has been battling a thigh injury and playing poorly since returning from a broken toe.
October 27, 2007
Raiders coach Lane Kiffin announced Friday that Daunte Culpepper will start at quarterback Sunday. Josh McCown will back up Culpepper and JaMarcus Russell will be their third option, according to the Contra Costa Times. McCown is returning from a fractured toe, but it looks like Kiffin wants to give Culpepper one more shot to prove himself.
October 26, 2007
Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin is once again refusing to name a starting quarterback for Sunday. Josh McCown practiced fully on Wednesday and Thursday. He has been out since fracturing his big left toe in Week 3, and Daunte Culpepper is starting in his place. "We'll have to go in and sit down and watch the film again and talk with Josh also," Kiffin tells the Sacramento Bee. McCown admitted that his toe was sore on Thursday morning. The Raiders travel to Tennessee this Sunday.
October 9, 2007
The Raiders have named Daunte Culpepper their starting quarterback for the Week 6 game in San Diego. He has the job because Josh McCown is dealing with various injuries, namely a hairline fracture in the big toe of his left foot. "When Josh becomes healthy, we'll have a decision to make or it could stay the same," head coach Lane Kiffin tells the Sacramento Bee.

September 5, 2007
The Raiders aren't revealing who will be under center in week one. Heck, we don't even know who will be the "center" in said scenario. Head coach Lane Kiffin has reportedly told Daunte Culpepper and Josh McCown who will be the starting quarterback on Sunday, but both the coach and players are refusing to divulge the information, according to the Oakland Tribune. Centers Jake Grove and Jeremy Newberry are being kept in the dark about who will start.
August 31, 2007
Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin still isn't settled on his starting quarterback for the season opener. "As for the quarterback question, don't have an answer for you," Kiffin tells the San Francisco Chronicle. "We'll go back and look at the film and see where it goes from there." The coach adds that he may not name a starter until right before the season opener on September 9. Josh McCown and Daunte Culpepper are the two options.
August 27, 2007
Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin isn't in a hurry to name a starting quarterback. "We're going to take a couple of days on it and obviously go one way or the other," Kiffin tells the Sacramento Bee. "Either name our guy or go one more week." Daunte Culpepper, Josh McCown, and Andrew Walter are all in the running, and Kiffin says Culpepper is not yet playing at the same speed as the other two passers.
August 23, 2007
The Raiders will start their third quarterback in as many preseason games when they face the Rams on Friday. Daunte Culpepper will get the nod this time. Josh McCown and Andrew Walter started the previous two contests. "I know Daunte's excited about it," head coach Lane Kiffin tells the San Jose Mercury News. Kiffin plans to name a regular season starter before the final exhibition game.

August 2, 2007
Daunte Culpepper had his first practice with the Raiders on Wednesday, and he did not need to wear a brace on his right knee. "My mind-set is to continue to work to get better to be the starter," Culpepper tells the Oakland Tribune. "I'm ready to go now. I'm just going to continue to work and progress every day in this offense. Physically, I feel great, and I'm going to continue to get better and stronger every day."
August 1, 2007
Daunte Culpepper is prepared to battle Josh McCown and Andrew Walter and believes he can win the starting job. "He'll be part of the competition to be the starting quarterback," head coach Lane Kiffin tells the Oakland Tribune. "We'll give him the opportunity and see if he can take it and if he can't, he'll be a backup. He said he's not worried about competition. He said he's going to be the starter."

The Jaguars appear to be backing off of quarterback Daunte Culpepper . “At this point, it’s unlikely [the team will sign Culpepper],” Del Rio told the Florida Times-Union. “I doubt it’s going to happen. It just doesn’t seem like a good fit for whatever reason. We said we’d investigate it, and we have. At this point he has other suitors out there, and we feel good about our quarter back situation with Byron Leftwich as our starter and David Garrard as our backup.”
July 20, 2007

The Dolphins put an end to the brief Daunte Culpepper Era on Tuesday, releasing the quarterback with little fanfare, announcing the move in a one-sentence release. "As I was going through this process I heard about a quote by Gandhi that best expresses my thoughts about this victory," Culpepper told the Associated Press in an e-mail. "'First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.' Now that I have won my freedom and I get to choose my next team, I am just like many other people who have to go out and find employment so that I can take care of my family."

The NFL Players Association has stepped in on behalf of Daunte Culpepper , filing a grievance with the league on Tuesday claiming the Dolphins are denying him the opportunity to compete for a job. “He’s being employed as a skilled football player, and unless they’re going to let him be one, he should be released,” NFLPA attorney Richard Berthelsen told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
June 11, 2007
Daunte Culpepper might file a grievance against the Dolphins via the NFL Players Association, according to the Palm Beach Post. Culpepper wants to chose which team to join for next season, rather than let the Dolphins trade him where they wish. The trouble is that he doesn't have much legal ground to make such a demand. In the end, he probably will get released, but not until the Dolphins exhaust their trade possibilities.

On the same day Trent Green passed his physical and was officially introduced as the Dolphins new starting quarterback, it appeared Daunte Culpepper will be either traded or released before this weekend’s minicamp. According to the Miami Herald, the team is concerned Culpepper could sustain an injury during minicamp, which would leave the Dolphins on the hook for his $5.5 million salary next season.

According to the Miami Herald, coach Cam Cameron and general manager Randy Mueller met with Culpepper on Wednesday morning and told him the team will attempt to trade him. “I am not interested in being traded,” Culpepper told the Herald in an e-mail. “They have told me throughout the offseason that I am under contract to the Dolphins. Therefore, it will be up to them to either keep me under contract or release me.”

I'm going to base my opinion on any player in our locker room on what I see on a day-to-day basis." Joey Harrington and Cleo Lemon are also in the quarterback picture.
