Martin Gramatica was dropped from Dallas's injured reserve list Tuesday, freeing him up to find other work if he can. Gramatica didn't have much of a summer, battling a hamstring injury and losing out on the starting job to rookie kicker Nick Folk.

Martin Gramatica will not play in Thursday's preseason finale due to a strained right hamstring, the Dallas Morning News reports. Gramatica suffered the injury during a kickoff in the third quarter of Saturday's tilt against the Texans.

Martin Gramatica hit a 24-yard and a 47-yard field goal attempt in Thursday's preseason win over the Colts. He also looked good on kickoffs. "I feel like I should be the kicker for this team," the veteran tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Rookie Nick Folk also converted all of his attempts.

Thus far, the battle between Martin Gramatica and Nick Folk is close. According to the Dallas Morning News, Gramatica has his 12-of-16 field goal chances during practice, and Folk is a perfect 16-for-16. "I don't think we have any timeline on it," special teams coach Bruce Read says. "Right now, these kids are neck-and-neck as far as doing a nice job."

The Cowboys re-signed Martin Gramatica Monday to a two-year deal, according to the Star-Telegram. Gramatica made 6-of-8 field goals for Dallas last year after replacing Mike Vanderjagt.
