Rams quarterback Marc Bulger practiced Wednesday and reports no ill effects, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Bulger has not played since suffering a concussion on November 25. Bulger is not a good start this week because of his tough matchup with the Packers and his poor play all season.
December 11, 2007
Rams quarterback Marc Bulger is feeling better and is expected to try to practice on Wednesday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He missed last week’s game because of a concussion. Getting Bulger back this week would be a boost for the Rams passing game, but he is a questionable fantasy play even if he is clear because of the Packers strong defense.
December 10, 2007
It's not clear when Marc Bulger will play again this season, if he returns at all. "It’s indefinite," coach Scott Linehan said, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I’m making no predictions. I’m just going to think positive and hope for the best, and make arrangements in case he can’t be available. It’s not anything that you can put a date on." Bulger continues to deal with concussion symptoms, so he'll need to receive medical clearance before taking the field again.
December 8, 2007
Marc Bulger has officially been ruled out for Sunday's game at Cincinnati, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He's coming off a concussion. Untested Brock Berlin will get the start in his place, making his first career start.
December 7, 2007
Marc Bulger had a setback in his recovery from a concussion, and he's listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Bengals. However, two sources have told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch he won't play Sunday. "Marc had really what I thought were two very good practices Wednesday and Thursday, but that’s the objective part," coach Scott Linehan said. "I guess the subjective part is he didn’t feel really good after (Thursday) afternoon’s meetings. "Because of that, it puts some questions in my mind as to whether or not he should be cleared to play. . . .We’re not going to put a guy out on the field if there’s any doubt whatsoever when it comes to these kinds of injuries. Or any injuries." If Bulger does in fact sit on Sunday, Brock Berlin, who has yet to throw a pass in the NFL, will get the start. This could have a negative effect on receivers Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce.
December 5, 2007
Rams starting quarterback Marc Bulger returned to practice on Wednesday after sitting out the last week with a concussion. Backup Gus Frerotte sprained his right shoulder last week, and will most likely be unavailable for this weekend’s game against the Bengals, leaving Bulger in a pressured position to return.
December 4, 2007
Marc Bulger passed a neursopsych exam Tuesday and will be back on the practice field Wednesday. Unless he experiences some complications later in the week, he will start against Cincinnati this weekend, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Bulger has been out since suffering a concussion in the first quarter in Week 12.
November 29, 2007
Rams quarterback Marc Bulger has been ruled out of Sunday’s game with the Falcons because of the concussion he suffered last week, according to the Belleville News Democrat. “It’s just too soon,’’ head coach Scott Linehan said on Thursday. “We’ll do the same type of test on Monday, and if he clears that, there is no reason that he should be able to play next week.’’ Gus Frerotte will start in place of Bulger. Frerotte didn’t look good in relief last week and fantasy owners shouldn’t expect very much from him this Sunday.
November 28, 2007
Rams signal caller Marc Bulger was held out of Wednesday’s practice as he is still trying to recover from the concussion he suffered on Sunday against the Seahawks. Backup quarterback Gus Frerotte told media members, “You can talk to him and he understands what’s going on. But he’s still just a little groggy.” If Bulger is not cleared by the Rams medical staff, Frerotte will get the start against the Falcons this week.
November 27, 2007
Rams quarterback Marc Bulger told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that his concussion was minor and he’ll play Sunday if cleared by team doctors. "I feel better than (Sunday)," he told the paper Monday afternoon. "I'm going to play it by ear here the next couple days."
November 25, 2007
Marc Bulger had to leave Sunday's game with a concussion and will not return. It was originally thought that he may have re-injured his ribs. Gus Frerotte has replaced Bulger.
November 25, 2007
Rams Quarterback Marc Bulger made his way into the locker room in the first quarter of the game against Seattle. His injury has been classified as rib and back soreness, which may be a re-aggravation of his rib injury from earlier in the year. Gus Frerotte entered the game in place of Bulger.
October 28, 2007
Marc Bulger had to leave Sunday's game in the third quarter after spraining his right thumb. However, Bulger was able to return after missing just one possession, according to the AP.
October 21, 2007
Marc Bulger was back under center for the Rams Sunday after missing two games with broken ribs. Unfortunately, he didn't help fantasy teams and the Rams dropped to 0-7. Bulger finished the game with 225 yards passing, no touchdowns and three interceptions. The Rams have a decent matchup against the Browns next weekend before their bye, after which they should have Steven Jackson back in the mix.
October 15, 2007
Marc Bulger told the AP on Monday that he plans to start in Week 7. He has missed the last two games due to cracked ribs, and Gus Frerotte has started in his place. "Yeah, I'm playing," Bulger says. "I'm ready now after standing around for two weeks. They definitely feel a little better, but I haven't been hit."
October 3, 2007
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has confirmed an earlier report from Pro Football Talk that the Rams will bench Marc Bulger for a week or two. Scott Linehan just did Bulger a huge favor by allowing his injured ribs to heal. Gus Frerotte will start in his place.
October 3, 2007
Will Gus Frerotte be under center for the Rams this Sunday? Pro Football Talk thinks so because they are reporting Marc Bulger will be benched because of his poor start to the season and his two broken ribs. Either the Rams nor another media outlet have not confirmed the report, so treat more as speculation until then. However, with Bulger battling broken ribs and the offensive line decimated by injuries, this move makes sense on a lot of levels. The Rams have thrown for over 300 yards in three straight games against the Cardinals, so Frerotte is an intriguing fantasy option this week if you’re desperate.
September 30, 2007
Rams quarterback Marc Bulger was replaced by Gus Frerotte in the third quarter of today's game against the Cowboys. Bulger had a terrible day, going 11 for 24 for 114 yards and a pick.
September 24, 2007
Head coach Scott Linehan told the media during his Monday press conference that Marc Bulger is playing through two broken ribs. He is not expected to miss any time, though. The ribs were believed to be bruised, but this news makes Bulger an even bigger injury risk for fantasy owners going forward. Because of Marc's rib problems, the Rams are running a more conservative offense to prevent him from taking so many hits.
September 17, 2007
Rams quarterback Marc Bulger was sacked six times Sunday afternoon and felt the effects afterwards. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that he had sore ribs and a tender knee after the 17-16 loss to the 49ers. These ailments are not going to keep Bulger from playing in Week 3, but they may impact his play and limit the number of hits he can take before a more serious injury occurs.
September 16, 2007
Marc Bulger suffered an injury to his ribs Sunday but remained in the game. Bulger took numerous hits, as the Rams' makeshift line had trouble keeping the Niners out of the backfield. Bulger ended the day with nice numbers, passing for 368 yards and a score.
July 27, 2007
Rams quarterback Marc Bulger has agreed to a new six-year contract extension that will make him a very rich man. ESPN report the new deal gives him $26.5 million in guaranteed money and is worth a maximum of $62.5 million. Marc threw for 4,301 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2006. This quells any fears that Bulger, who missed a mandatory team meeting on Thursday night for “personal reasons,” will have an extended holdout that impacts his fantasy stock. Marc is one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league when healthy and enters this year as a top-5 signal caller in most formats.
July 25, 2007
The Rams are putting a contact extension with quarterback Marc Bulger on the top of their to-do list. General manager Jay Zygmunt told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, "I just want to reaffirm that [an extension is] our No. 1 priority right now. That's really what it is." Bulger is entering the final season of a four-year contract. Marc is scheduled to make a $3.95 million base salary this season, which is below market value for a quarterback of his caliber. However, that number is a bit misleading because he signed a front-loaded deal that paid him a $9 million signing bonus. He’s expected not to be a hold out, even if the two sides can’t agree on a contract prior to the start of training camp later this week.
July 12, 2007
Marc Bulger won't rule out contract holdout at start of camp, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. In an interview Tuesday on Sirius NFL Radio, Bulger hinted that if he doesn't have a new contract in place before camp, he might consider a holdout. "I don't think it's going to happen, but you never know. I don't want to rule anything out," he said. "The Rams have been good to me. I've been there my whole career, and I think everything's going to get worked out." On Wednesday, Bulger said though a spokesperson that his comments had been "blown out of proportion" and declined to discuss them further. Bulger, 30, is entering the final season of a four-year, $19.1 million dollar deal he signed in May of 2004.
May 26, 2007
The Rams are trying to sign Marc Bulger to a contract extension, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I'd love to finish my career here. I know we're really, really close to getting something done, and I want to be a part of it," he said. Bulger's entering the final year of his current deal and is coming off his best season. So long as he can stay healthy, he should continue to excel.
