Sammy Morris was on hand for the first day of the New England Patriots' offseason program, according to the Boston Globe. Good news for the New England backfield, as Morris has been recovering from a sternum injury for the past six months. He is expected to be ready to go for training camp.

The Pats placed Sammy Morris on injured reserve Friday, formally ending his season in the process. You don't often get black-and-white information regarding injuries from the Patriots, but in this case we know that Morris will not return from his chest injury this season. This is good news for those who own Laurence Maroney, as Morris won't be around to pilfer carries and touchdowns in the second half of the season. Kevin Faulk will continue to see added work, though.

Sammy Morris did not participate in the Patriots' Wednesday practice, reports the Boston Globe. Morris was expected to miss up to a month when he first injured his chest in Week 6, so this doesn't come as much of a surprise. Laurence Maroney and Kevin Faulk figure to shoulder the load again in Week 9 against the Colts in what will probably be the greatest NFL football game ever played (if not the greatest sports contest of any kind, or for that matter the most exciting three-hour period of time the world has ever known).

Sammy Morris (chest) is expected to be out until at least New England's bye Nov. 10, and potentially longer than that, the Boston Globe reports.
October 17, 2007
Sammy Morris injured a bone in his chest during a freak collision Sunday and could miss a month, a league source told the Boston Herald. Morris has already been ruled out for Sunday's game with Miami.
