Player Notes
November 30, 2007
Chad Johnson rested his sore knee Thursday, his typical routine this year. He's fully expected to play Sunday at Pittsburgh.
November 17, 2007
Chad Johnson missed practice again on Friday. However, Friday's absence was because he was visiting a doctor regarding a skin issue, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He skipped Thursday's session to rest up, so Johnson should be fine, as usual, for Sunday's game.
November 16, 2007
Chad Johnson was held out of Thursday’s practice, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. However, he is listed on the official injury report as suffering from a knee injury and not a neck injury.
November 11, 2007
Chad Johnson is listed as active for the Bengals' Week 10 clash with the Ravens. Johnson was able to practice throughout the week after his scary Week 9 neck injury. The Ravens are missing cornerbacks Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle, so there's no reason not to start Johnson.
November 10, 2007
After resting on Thursday, Chad Johnson was back in practice on Friday and is listed as probable. "From Monday, we were comfortable that he would be playing," coach Marvin Lewis said, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Despite sustaining what looked to be a scary neck injury last week, it looks like Ocho Cinco is set to roll Sunday against the Ravens.
November 9, 2007
Chad Johnson was held out of Thursday’s practice because of the neck injury he suffered in last Sunday’s game, but the Bengals’ official website indicated that the team expects him to play Sunday.
November 8, 2007
Chad Johnson was limited during Wednesday’s practice because of the neck injury he suffered in Week 9, but teammate Carson Palmer expects him to play this week despite the injury. “Chad looked great,” Palmer told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “He ran around, caught a bunch of balls, was going full speed and looked good.”
November 5, 2007
Chad Johnson was carted off the field with a neck injury Sunday and taken to a hospital. Johnson was able to leave the hospital and fly back home with the team in the evening, though, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. A CT scan on his neck came back normal. At this point, it appears that he escaped without a serious injury, but his status for Week 10 is completely up in the air. Chris Henry is set to return from his suspension and presumably would start if Ocho Cinco is held out of the game.
November 4, 2007
Chad Johnson, who was carried off the field on a stretcher on Sunday, underwent a CAT scan at the hospital after the game, according to the AP. The results came back negative. Coach Marvin Lewis said Johnson had movement in all his extremities. This is good news, although we may not know his status until later this week.
November 4, 2007
Chad Johnson was carted off the field on the stretcher Sunday. It's unclear what the injury is, but he was hit hard by two defenders as he went for a pass across the middle. We'll keep you informed.
October 20, 2007
As expected, Chad Johnson returned to practice Friday after skipping Thursday's session to rest a sore ankle. He's listed as probable for Sunday's game and will start, barring a setback.
October 19, 2007
Chad Johnson rested his ankle Thursday, though it's not considered serious, the Bengals official site reports. We'll see what he's able to do Friday.
October 10, 2007
Chad Johnson has been the one bright spot on the Bengals injury report, as he fully participated in practice on Wednesday, after wearing a boot on his left foot all last week. The protective boot was worn to help immobilize his sprained left ankle.
October 2, 2007
Chad Johnson had just three catches for 53 yards in Monday's loss to New England, and he also sprained his left ankle late in the game, according to the Bengals offical site. The team ddn't immediately seem concerned about Johnson going forward, but we'll see what we learn in the next few days.
June 1, 2007
Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson will race a four-year-old colt named Restore the Roar at River Downs June 9. The horse will start at the eighth pole and run on the inside rail, while Johnson will run along the outside rail and run 11/16 of a mile, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Patricia Cooksey, who was the jockey when the Bengals last tried this stunt in 1993 (Cris Collinsworth lost by a nose), will come out of retirement to ride Restore the Roar.
February 2, 2007
Chad Johnson has been interviewed by Miami homicide detectives as part of an investigation into a shooting death, though he is not considered a suspect or even a person of interest in the case, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
