The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that signs suggest that the Bengals are prepared to let Rudi Johnson leave as a free agent after the season rather than pay to re-sign him to what may be a three-year, $17 million contract. Coach Marvin Lewis said they were confident that rookie Chris Perry could be a featured back, despite the fact he missed most of the season with an abdominal injury.

Rudi Johnson rushed for a career-high 202 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries against the Browns on Sunday. With his big game, Johnson topped the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career. He'll be a free agent after the season.
