The Star-Tribune reports that the only reason Michael Bennett started over Onterrio Smith on Sunday was because he fit better with the team's first scripted play. November 5, 2004
With Mewelde Moore possibly being rested this week, it's starting to look like either Onterrio Smith or Michael Bennett will start the Vikings' game on Monday, according to the Star-Tribune. Mike Tice suggested that it doesn't really matter who starts, though, because "they'll both get a chance to touch the ball a lot."

October 24, 2004
Michael Bennett had only one carry for no gain on Sunday in his return from knee problems. More importantly, Bennett watched rookie Mewelde Moore have his best game yet. With Moore playing so well and Onterrio Smith set to return from his suspension in Week 9, there's no guarantee that Bennett will return to a prominent role with the Vikings at all this season.
October 21, 2004
Michael Bennett returned to practice yesterday, according to the Star-Tribune. He hopes to practice again tomorrow and return from his knee injury this weekend. Vikings coaches think he likely will get 5-7 carries in the game.
October 18, 2004
With the sudden emergence of Mewelde Moore, the Vikings have the luxury of giving Michael Bennett more time to recover from his knee injury, according to the AP. There's a chance he won't play in Week 7. "If Mike can't go forward, he's not going to suit up," Vikings coach Mike Tice said.
October 4, 2004

Michael Bennett has been ruled out for Sunday's game, but an examination of his knee showed that he should be fine to return in Week 5, after the Vikings come off the bye. Head coach Mike Tice said "I think it's smart to give him two more weeks to get his legs underneath him."
September 23, 2004
Although Michael Bennett practiced yesterday for the first time since spraining his knee, the Vikings don't plan to use him on Sunday, according to the Star-Tribune.

The Vikings have ruled Michael Bennett out of their Week 2 game against the Eagles because of his sprained knee. With Moe Williams possibly sitting as well, Onterrio Smith will again handle the load.
