The Seattle Seahawks pursued tight end Alge Crumpler on the open market, but ultimately didn’t have the salary cap space, according to Pro Football Weekly. The team also had serious concerns about the condition of Crumpler’s knee, which caused him to miss four starts and two complete games last season.

Head coach Jeff Fisher envisions new tight end Alge Crumpler being a major red zone threat according to the City Paper. “He has 35 [career] touchdown catches, so he knows how to get open in the end zone,” Fisher said at Monday’s news conference introducing Crumpler. “He knows how to get in the end zone.” Crumpler, who has scored 13 touchdowns the past two seasons, should provide a nice shot in the arm to a passing offense that only crossed the stripe nine times through the air in 2007.

Alge Crumpler has agreed to a two-year deal that he plans to sign today in Nashville, according to ESPN. The deal will be worth $5 million and includes a $1 million signing bonus. During the last two days Crumpler has been in negotiations with Tennessee and Seattle. At the end of the day, Crumpler thought quarterback Vince Young mirrored some of the positive things he saw from Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. There have been some concerns about Crumpler’s knees, but if healthy he will make a nice addition for Young who desperately needed a veteran target in the passing game.

Alge Crumpler isn't officially a Titan just yet, the tight end's agent, James Williams, told Titans Radio Sunday night. "Where did you see that report?... We talked on Sunday, lets put it that way," Williams said. "He has not signed a contract nor agreed to anything." It still seems likely that Crumpler will end up in Tennessee, but Tampa Bay and Seattle could also enter the picture.

Alge Crumpler agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, this according to NFL Network. Adam Schefter said that Crumpler has joined the Titans, a team flush with cap space and in desperate need of a boost to the passing game. Crumpler will remain a starting option in traditional formats even in Jeff Fisher's run first offense.
