Giants head coach Tom Coughlin continues to stand by Lawrence Tynes. “Lawrence has been our kicker for the first eight games of the season – we are 6-2,” Coughlin tells the team's official web site. “We had some disappointments. But we’re sticking with him.” Tynes has missed three field goals and two extra points this season.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin is sticking with Lawrence Tynes despite a missed extra point in Week 7. "Obviously I am concerned about that," Coughlin tells the New York Daily News. "You don't ever want to deal with that. The extra point part of it should be automatic, so I am concerned about that." The Giants play in London in Week 8 and then go on the bye.

Lawrence Tynes missed a field goal and an extra point last Sunday, and head coach Tom Coughlin isn't exactly pleased about the situation. "We can't afford to miss them," Coughlin tells the New York Post. "I didn't think that was an especially difficult (field goal try)... It doesn't necessarily mean we are going to do anything about it, but obviously you are going to address situations like this."

Lawrence Tynes missed practice again on Thursday due to a strained right calf. "I could've kicked today," Tynes tells the New York Post. "They just didn't want me to... I did a lot of stuff without the ball today, like 40 field goals and 20 kickoff steps running full speed, cleats, no ball. It feels good. I'm going to play."

Lawrence Tynes did not practice on Wednesday due to a strained calf. “In theory, he can kick the next day,” head coach Tom Coughlin tells the team's official web site. “We’ll have to see how that goes. He’s sore.”

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin tried to stay optimistic about his kickers following three missed field goals on Saturday night. “The one thing that I will say to you as you try to build a case here against the kickers is that the ball was struck well,” Coughlin tells the team's official web site. “The ball was struck well. We were errant with the location and the accuracy, but the ball was struck well." Lawrence Tynes has made one of his three field goal tries this preseason, and Josh Huston is 2-for-3.

Lawrence Tynes missed a pair of field-goal attempts, from 40 and 42 yards, in Saturday's loss to the Jets. He later made a 40 yarder. Tynes is battling free agent Josh Huston for the kicker job, though given what the Giants put out to get Tynes in the first place, he's probably on safe footing.
