The Star-Ledger reports that Justin McCareins has lost his starting job to Jerricho Cotchery and didn't even work with the second team on Tuesday. Cotchery is apparently in coach Eric Mangini's doghouse after reporting to training camp out of shape. He could be trade bait as the Jets look to add a running back.

Justin McCareins was placed on the physically- unable-to-perform list because he didn't pass the team's conditioning test necessary to begin training camp, according to Newsday. "He just didn't pass the criteria that we had to start practice," Eric Mangini said after the first practice of his first training camp. "I'm not going to put anybody on the field that can't pass the criteria to get on the field, because it's not safe for them and it's not what we expect."
