Despite the fact that the 49ers used their first-round pick on tight end Vernon Davis, coach Mike Nolan has been impressed by the workouts and practices of Eric Johnson and says there is a role for him in the San Francisco offense, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Johnson was placed on IR last season in late September because of a torn muscle in his left foot.
