The Bears released Adam Archuleta on Tuesday, ESPN.com confirms.
February 21, 2008
Adam Archuleta is expected to return for the 2008 season, according to the Sun-Times. The source for this report was HC Lovie Smith who divulged this information from Indianapolis at the NFL combine. Archuleta’s had his best years from 2001-05, as a member of the St. Louis Rams. Since that time, his career has been in a free-fall. Last season, he started 10 games and was relegated to special teams’ duty late in the year due to poor production, presumably due to a hand injury. Sometimes you got to know when to hold ‘em, and know when to fold ‘em. It appears that HC Lovie Smith has not learned that lesson yet.

Lovie Smith gave Adam Archuleta a vote of confidence on Monday by stating that the struggling safety “is our starter,” according to the Chicago Tribune. Archuleta was pulled from Sunday’s loss to the Vikings.
September 30, 2007
Adam Archuleta will not play in Sunday’s game against the Bears due to a hand injury he suffered last week. He is listed on the team’s inactive list.

Adam Archuleta has a broken right hand but plans to play Sunday at Detroit, an NFL source told the Chicago Tribune.
