Gary Baxter, who has missed the past three games with a partially torn chest muscle, is expected to return Sunday against the Broncos, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "I've had a chance to rest it up and I've been rehabbing it pretty good," Baxter said. "Right now, things are looking positive for me to be on the field. Hopefully, I can have a great game and put all of this behind me and continue to try to knock out the rest of the 11 games."

Gary Baxter did some work at Thursday's practice though he remains questionable on the injury report, the Akron Beacon-Journal reports. He's coming back from a pectoral injury. Baxter's status is especially important because the team's other starting corner, Leigh Bodden, is not expected to go this week, and the Browns are facing an elite receiver in Carolina's Steve Smith.

Gary Baxter, who has been dealing with a strained left pectoral muscle, returned to practice on Monday and has predicted that he would be ready for regular-season opener, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "The real test is going to be for me to go out there and press it and use my arms and jam it like I used to," Baxter said. "Today I didn't do that. I didn't have any contact. It's still early. But sometime before next week, I've definitely got to use my left arm and press up against it and see how the muscle feels."

Gary Baxter left Thursday's game in the second quarter after tweaking his shoulder, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "He tweaked his shoulder but was able to move it around," coach Romeo Crennel said. "He'll get an X-ray." Baxter, who missed much of last season with a torn pectoral muscle, said he was fine.
