Coach Eric Mangini stated on Monday that Derrick Blaylock will "have another opportunity," due to Cedric Houston's injury, according to Newsday. Blaylock has been a healthy inactive the last two games.

As expected, Derrick Blaylock got the start at running back for the Jets in the season opener. Blaylock rushed for just 36 yards on 19 carries, while teammate Kevan Barlow had 35 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Rookie Leon Washington did not touch the ball from scrimmage, and Cedric Houston was inactive.

Derrick Blaylock started the preseason opener for the Jets on Friday night, ahead of Cedric Houston. It's not clear which of the two backs will start this season if Curtis Martin is unable to go. Blaylock rushed for 12 yards on six carries and caught three passes for 14 yards. Houstn rushed for 17 yards on five carries.
