The Patriots have signed Eddie Berlin to a one-year contract, according to the Boston Globe. With Deion Branch holding out and rookie Chad Jackson nursing an injury, the Pats needed a warm body at receiver. He'll probably have a hard time making the roster.

The Bears re-signed Eddie Berlin on Friday, according to the Chicago Tribune. He had been released by the team after tearing a groin muscle during the preseason. "We think he should be able to step right in on offense and he's a good special-teams player," coach Lovie Smith said.
