Cardinal running back Marcel Shipp is expected to play this weekend after leaving Sundays contest with bruised ribs, according to the Arizona Republic. Shipp will see only a handful of carries if he plays, and as long as they are not at the goal line, he has no fantasy value.

Theres no denying that Edgerrin James will start at tailback for the Cardinals, but the Arizona Republic reports that Marcel Shipp will still play a significant role as a backup.

The Cardinals re-signed Marcel Shipp on Saturday, according to the AP. Terms were not disclosed. Shipp carried just 17 times for 41 yards last year, and he doesn't figure to see much more playing time in 2007.

Marcel Shipp worked at practice Thursday despite his sore ribs and was upgraded to questionable on the injury report. A healthy Shipp might get some short-yardage work against Denver Sunday, but otherwise Edgerrin James would probably be pressed into all roles.
