Josh McCown is excited about competing for the starting quarterback job in Miami this season, according to the Palm Beach Post. McCown said, "As long as the guys in the building tell me it's an open competition, I could care less what fans or media say. At the end of the day, from what I've been told and am experiencing at the facility, it's a three-man race. I have a lot of experience to help me. But it also will help the whole group. I want to play and be the starter, but if someone ends up in front of me, then he'll be pretty good. This is the last chance I'll get to compete like this."

New Orleans head coach Sean Payton believes Tony Sparano is well prepared to be the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "The reason he'll do well is because the players will trust what he's trying to tell them, and they'll buy into what he's telling them," Payton said. "His ability to communicate has always been one of his strong suits. He's very honest with them. There's no hidden agendas with him." Plus, Sparano has an advantage; the opportunity to simply walk down the hall to seek Parcells' counsel.” Payton and Sparano worked together as Dallas offensive assistants before Payton left to become the coach of the New Orleans Saints.

NFL owners unanimously approved Wayne Huizenga's sale of 50 percent of the Miami Dolphins to New York real estate billionaire Stephen Ross on Monday at the league meetings, according to ESPN. "This is a bittersweet moment for us," Huizenga said, "but we'll be staying on a little longer. I am pleased that when my time comes to turn it over, that Steve will be a great owner." Huizenga will remain as managing partner of the club for the near future, setting no timetable for when Ross will take command. Ross is spending about $550 million for his share of the team and will have options to buy up to 95 percent of the Dolphins. The Dolphins haven't been to the playoffs since 2001, but Ross was still eager to invest in the franchise, valued last year by Forbes Magazine at $942 million.

Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga indicated Monday that teams do not appear interested in trading for Miami's No. 1 overall draft pick, according to the Miami Herald. Huizenga said the way this draft is evolving, ``the top four or five picks -- a lot of teams aren't willing to spend the money to move up. This is one of those off years where no team really wants to move up.'' The Dolphins would love to move down for additional picks, given the fact they have many holes to fill, but it appears they are stuck in the one hole.

Josh McCown is determined and confident he will be the Dolphins starting QB in 2008, according to the Palm Beach Post. He stated, "I plan to win the job. It's a great opportunity. It's the first time I've had all the details I've looked for in a situation."
