Ladell Betts will be utilized solely as a backup to Clinton Portis in 2008, according to the Washington Post. Daniel Snyder and Vinny Cerrato reportedly gushed about Portis during interviews with potential head coaching prospects, while speaking of Betts as an offensive role player who is likely to resume kick returning duties in 2008.

Ladell Betts did not practice on Tuesday morning, but he was feeling better by the afternoon, the Washington Post reports. Betts jammed his neck on Monday.

Ladell Betts jammed his neck during practice on Monday and will undergo X-rays. The injury appears to be minor, the Washington Post reports.

Ladell Betts had his fourth straight 100-yard rushing game on Sunday, as he carried 22 times for 119 yards. He also caught three passes for 43 yards. Betts needs just 67 yards in the final two games for his first 1,000-yard season.

Ladell Betts celebrated his new contract with the best game of his career Sunday, running for 171 yards on 33 carries. It is Betts' third straight 100-yard game.
