Rams offensive coordinator Al Saunders is excited about what tight end Randy McMichael could do in the offense, reports Mike Sando of ESPN.com. "Randy McMichael has been spectacular this training camp, and I would expect him to have a very, very, very profound impact on our offense," Saunders said.

Randy McMichael is pleased to be targeted again in the Rams' aerial attack, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He was an afterthought in the Rams' offense last season as he only caught 39 passes, but he is now grinning from ear to ear while under the direction of new offensive coordinator Al Saunders, whose playbook made Chiefs' tight end Tony Gonzalez a future Hall of Famer and produced a Pro Bowl tight end eight consecutive seasons (seven by Gonzalez and one by Chris Cooley of Washington). Saunders views tight ends as receivers with a little extra girth, and McMichael said, "Man, I'm just having a good time."

Randy McMichael is pleased to have new OC Al Saunders in St. Louis, as Saunders has directed a tight end to the Pro Bowl for eight straight seasons, according to the Belleville News-Democrat. McMichael said, "As soon as I found what was going on and they had hired Coach Saunders, I got really excited. This is the kind of offense that I have dreamed my whole career of playing in. I'm having a good time right now, and hopefully I can extend my role and keep doing the things I like to do."

The Rams were without Randy McMichael on Monday because of a hamstring injury, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Klopfenstein, who had very little fantasy impact last season as a rookie, is expected to back up Randy McMichael this year.

The Rams agreed to a three-year deal with Randy McMichael on Thursday, according to the Sports Network. "This has been in the works for a while," said St. Louis head coach Scott Linehan. "We even considered trading for him. He is an every-down tight end and a proven starter in the league. He does a lot of things well." McMichael, who caught 62 passes for 640 yards and three scores in 2006, was released by Miami on Monday.
