Terence Newman is entering the final year of his contract and wants to be paid like one of the top cornerbacks in the league, according to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. "I would like to stay here in Dallas, but I dont need the money," Newman said. "I definitely want to be recognized as one of the top corners. I just want to be paid as one of the top corners. Newman, who made the Pro Bowl for the first time last year, posted 62 tackles, 15 pass deflections and five interceptions. Newman has obviously been paying attention to the recent mega-deals doled out to some of the other top corners in the league. He is scheduled to make $865,647 in 2008.

The Cowboys announced that both receiver Terrell Owens and cornerback Terence Newman will be inactive on Sunday for the game against the Redskins. Owens is trying to rest his high ankle sprain for an extra week so he can make a playoff return in the Divisional Round.

Terence Newman was limited again on Wednesday, but he practiced more than he had in past weeks. He has been out since mid-August due to a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right heel. "We are a lot more positive as far as his chances this week," head coach Wade Phillips tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "He moved around a lot better." Jacques Reeves has been starting his place.

Terence Newman was inactive for the Cowboys again Sunday. He has missed the first two games while recovering from a foot injury.

Terence Newman did some light running drills and participated in some scout team drills on Wednesday. He has been out since mid-August due to a partially torn plantar fascia in his right foot/heel. Newman concedes that he'll likely be a game-time decision for the foreseeable future. "Yeah, I'll give you that," he tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Newman did not play in the season opener. Jacques Reeves started in his place.
