Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but the deal is believed to have made Clark one of the league's highest-paid tight ends, according to the AP. Clark had a big 2007 season, setting career highs with 58 catches, 616 yards and 11 touchdowns. Dallas Clark , as expected, was handcuffed with the Colts' franchise tag on Tuesday. According to ESPN, after failing to reach a long-term agreement the team protected their starting tight end. The one-year franchise tender for a tight end is $4.522 million and if any team chose to sign Clark, that organization would have to surrender two first-round draft choices.

Dallas Clark is expected to be a Colt in 2008 regardless of his upcoming free agent status. According to Colts.com and GM Bill Polian, the team will come to an agreement on an extension with their starting tight end, or he will receive the franchise tag. Clark, the team’s first-round selection in 2003, is scheduled to become a free agent on March 1. Expect Clark's agent and the Colts front office to come to some agreement on a new contract soon. Indianapolis has a history of bargaining in good faith with the players they covet.
