Jason Witten had 72 yards, his best output of the year, in Monday's loss to the Giants. All of Witten's four catches came when Tony Romo was playing in the second half; it's very likely that Witten will be used more as a pass-catcher when Romo plays because the Cowboys don't need Witten's blocking as much when a mobile quarterback is in the pocket.

Bill Parcells told the Cowboys official site that he'd like to see Jason Witten more involved in the passing game. Witten has been an afterthought this year, with just 16 catches for 165 yards. "He's blocking better, but I'd like to get him more involved in the passing game," Parcells said. "Hopefully that will occur." Witten has yet to score a touchdown in 2006, though he did have one waved off by penalty in the opening week.

The Cowboys and Pro Bowler Jason Witten have reached an agreement on a new six-year contract, according to ESPN.com. The new contract is worth about $28 million to $29 million, and it includes $12 million in guarantees, which are split between an initial signing bonus of $6 million and a guaranteed option bonus of $6 million that is due next spring. Without the new deal, Witten would have been eligible for unrestricted free agency next spring.
