Kassim Osgood was not in attendance for the Chargers' first round of OTA, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Osgood stated he would stay away and remain working out in Florida because there was no point wearing his body down running routes when the Chargers don't use him as a receiver. Coach Norv Turner doesn't seem to mind and said, "Kassim is going to be in good shape."

Kassim Osgood will be a San Diego Charger for two more years then he will hit the open market, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Osgood is frustrated by his four catches over the past three seasons. He wants to be traded and has said he will not participate in the team's voluntary offseason workouts. San Diego general manager A.J. Smith made it clear that Osgood will not be traded: “Originally, I was unaware of Kassim's unhappiness,” Smith said. “Now that I fully understand his position, I'm sure after his contract expires his agent will do everything possible to make his client happy by finding a team that wants Kassim as a wide receiver first, special teams (player) second. He will not be traded, and we fully expect him to honor his contract. Kassim has made a career and business decision and I respect that. He's a great kid, and I wish him the best.” It appears that Osgood will have to wait for a couple of seasons, before he gets the chance to play wideout in the NFL.

Kassim Osgood, a two-time special teams Pro Bowler, says he will not attend the Chargers' offseason workouts that begin next month, as an act of protest and preservation, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Osgood wants to be utilized in the passing game, and signed his current deal because the organization told him that he would be part of the offense. “There is no reason to come to the (offseason coaching sessions) and run routes all day and run my body down and not be a receiver,” Osgood said. Osgood’s displeasure spiked when San Diego drafted receivers Buster Davis and Legedu Naanee last April. Osgood feels he is being typecast as a special-teams player, but sitting out and pouting about the situation isn’t likely to increase his repetitions at wide receiver.
