Antonio Gates participated in his first full workout Thursday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. He said, "I was rusty; I hadn't had any contact since last January. But I was excited to be out there. I had been anxious to get back out there, so it felt good."

Antonio Gates was taken off the PUP list on Tuesday and worked individual drills during practice. "Its another step forward," Gates tells the team's official web site. "Hopefully Ill work my way back in there. Im glad to be back practicing with my teammates and now you just hope things continue to go well." He is not expected to play in either of the final two preseason games. Gates is coming off surgery to repair his big left toe.

Antonio Gates, who is recovering from a surgically repaired toe, ran about 20 routes before the Chargers preseason game against the Rams and is feeling closer to normal again, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. quarterback Philip Rivers said, "He looked really good. That's encouraging for us."

Antonio Gates is still experiencing pain in his surgically repaired toe, but he has no intention of still being on the PUP list once the season has begun, according to the North County Times. "I refuse to be on that thing, man," Gates said. "I wouldn't imagine they would put me on it, based on the running I've been doing and the cutting I've been doing. I can feel some changes, but whether or not I can do it to the ability I need to (is the question). It looks OK, but the way it feels is the problem."

Chargers tight end Antonio Gates ran routes and caught passes on the sidelines before team practices on Tuesday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Although he is progressing, Gates is still experiencing a lot of discomfort saying, "It's not as comfortable as it looks. I got through it. The pain is tolerable.
