An MRI on Tommie Harris's knee revealed a sprained MCL, the Chicago Tribune reports. There are varying reports on how much time, if any, he will miss; some sources have him missing up to a month, while other areas are suggesting he could play this week against Detroit. One fact that can't be debated - the Chicago defense is not nearly as fearsome without Harris in the mix, as we saw in the second half of 2006.

Tommie Harris was forced to exit Sunday night's game due to a knee injury. The intial diagnosis was that he sustained a sprained MCL in his left knee, according to the Chicago Tribune. The Pro Bowl defensive tackle will have an MRI taken on Monday.

Head coach Lovie Smith stated that Tommie Harris will be a game-time decision for Thursday’s preseason finale against the Browns. He later told the Chicago Sun-Times that Harris “should play.” Harris, who underwent hamstring surgery during the offseason, has not played in preseason games this year.

Tommie Harris did not play in Monday’s preseason game against the Colts. “You’ve seen me practice,” Harris told the Chicago Sun-Times. “I don’t feel any discomfort. I feel like it’s the preseason.” Harris had surgery to reattach his hamstring in December.

Defensive tackle Tommie Harris practiced on Monday for the first time since he suffered a hamstring injury last December, according to ESPN.com. He underwent hamstring surgery in December to repair a torn left hamstring tendon. Harris had 48 tackles and five sacks in 12 games last season.
