Shawn Andrews had a rough day on Sunday despite the big win over the Lions. The All-Pro guard was poked in the eye in the first half and then tweaked a knee in the second half. "He banged his knee against somebody else," head coach Andy Reid tells the team's official web site. Max Jean-Gilles took his place.

Shawn Andrews practiced on Monday and might be able to play in the season opener. The Pro Bowler has been out since early August due to a sprained right ankle, an issue that has popped up multiple times in the past. I'm excited about Sunday," Andrews tells the team's official web site. "I'm excited about where I'm at." The Eagles did not practice in pads and hit on Monday, but they will on Wednesday and Thursday. "That's going to be a true test for me to kind of give me a gauge of where I am," the guard adds.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid thinks Shawn Andrews will be ready for the start of the season despite his right ankle issues. Andrews previously said that his conversation with an ankle specialist was a "tear-jerker," and people have wondered if the star lineman would be out for the year. "Well, Shawn's an emotional guy," Reid explains to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "He's frustrated. But the main thing, and really the only thing, that I care about right now is that he's getting better, and that he's doing."

Shawn Andrews has been placed in a walking boot and will use crutches for the next few days. He is having issues with his right ankle. "His right ankle, the same ankle which was surgically repaired during his rookie season, will continue to be monitored and evaluated over the next several days," head coach Andy Reid tells the team's official web site.
