Ben Troupe noted the differences between playing in Tennessee and Tampa Bay, according to the Tampa Tribune. Troupe said, "The atmosphere, the players, and the level of focus and intensity. I mean, take nothing away from Tennessee. I thank God I was with them for four years. But it's the level of intensity down here in Tampa. Everyone jells with one another, we know that we are going to need everybody."

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers expect tight end Ben Troupe to push incumbent Alex Smith for the top spot on the depth chart, according to the Tampa Tribune. Even if he doesn't break into the starting lineup, Troupe should see plenty of playing time, as the Buccaneers make generous use of two- and even three-tight end sets. If Troupe can stay healthy he has a chance to make a positive impact on the Tampa Bay offense, which is starving for playmakers in the passing game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers reached a two-year deal with Tennessee tight end Ben Troupe, according to ESPN. Troupe is hoping to rekindle a career that seemed so promising a couple years ago. The Titans made him the 40th pick in the 2004 draft because of his size and pass-catching ability. In 2005, Troupe caught 55 passes for 530 yards and four touchdowns. However, his productivity has diminished over the past two seasons. In 2006, Troupe started nine games but caught only 13 passes. Last year, he had two starts and only five catches. Troupe will have a chance to compete for the starting job against Alex Smith.

The free agency carousel continues to turn at One Bills Drive with a visit from free agent tight end Ben Troupe, according to buffalobills.com. However, he is an athletically gifted player, who could provide the size and speed to create match-up problems in the passing game for Buffalo.

Ben Troupe is in Tampa Saturday to meet with Bucs officials, according to the Tampa Tribune. His representatives said he has no current plans to meet with other teams, as he clearly hopes to work something out with the Bucs. The club already has Alex Smith and just signed blocking tight end John Gilmore, so we may not see a resurgence from Troupe if he signs. He caught 55 passes for 530 yards and four touchdowns back in 2005 but has done next to nothing (18 catches, 197 yards, 2 TDs) the past two seasons.
