Ben Watson underwent surgery on his left ankle within the past few weeks, which revealed both cartilage damage and scar tissue, according to the Boston Herald. Watson injured the ankle during the second quarter of the PatsÂ’ 48-27 Week 6 win at Dallas on Oct. 14, when he caught a pass and was dragged down from behind by Dallas safety Roy Williams. Last year, Watson caught 36 passes for 369 yards and a career-high six touchdowns, but his inability to do much after the catch raised some eyebrows, particularly later in the season. There is now some concern whether Watson will be ready for training camp in July. Next in line on the depth chart is Dave Thomas, who would likely step in if Watson misses an extended amount of time.
