When asked if Henderson is fighting for a roster spot, Payton answered, "I see him fighting more for playing time. He's out with the first group, so when you look at Marques Colston and you look at Devery, those guys are right now lining up with the first group. Devery's competing against those other guys behind him. Lance Moore, Robert Meachem, those guys are wanting to get more snaps."

While the receiving picture in New Orleans is one of depth, an asset the rest of the league is likely to covet, there is belief that a player of value could be left off the active roster, according to Pro Football Weekly. Sources indicate both Robert Meachem, coming off an injury-plagued rookie season, and 7th-round draft pick Adrian Arrington are working as the shining models to follow in training camp. Meanwhile injuries have kept Devery Henderson out of the mix as he nurses a bad hamstring. However, it is believed the Saints view Henderson as the team's best deep threat and have no intentions of moving forward without him on the roster. Thus, with no open positions in special teams to keep both Meachem and Arrington in work, it seems likely one will be left to join the practice squad.

Devery Henderson could be in jeopardy of being cut by the Saints, according to The New Orleans Times-Picayune. The Saints have their top five receivers back from last season with starters Marques Colston and David Patten, with Lance Moore and Terrance Copper, and Henderson. Robert Meachem is impressing the Saints' staff in the early going of the off-season, and he will push Henderson for his number three role in the slot. The team also likes seventh-round pick Adrian Arrington.

Henderson was thought to be headed to Tampa Bay, but decided to stay in New Orleans when the bottom line was evaluated. Henderson's inconsistent and injury prone history relegates his fantasy value to deep formats.

Henderson is a four-year veteran who caught 20 balls for 409 yards and three touchdowns last season while making nine starts in the Big Easy. Henderson, who is somewhat of a one trick pony, has the speed to stretch defenses, but his poor hands cause inconsistency in his overall game.
