Viikings coach Mike Tice said the biggest factor in his decision to replace starting running back Michael Bennett with Mewelde Moore after three plays in Sunday's game was because Moore was at full strength after being slowed by a variety of injuries, according to the Star-Tribune. "It was the healthiest that Mewelde has been," Tice said. "I know that you guys try to make a soap opera out of my relationship with Mewelde Moore, but Mewelde Moore, when he is healthy, plays pretty doggone good and he makes plays."

Vikings coach Mike Tice indicated Monday that Mewelde Moore no longer is the starter and instead will compete for playing time Sunday against Pittsburgh, according to the Star-Tribune. Michael Bennett has replaced an injured Moore as the primary runner in the Vikings' past two games, and Tice said he has grown "enamored" with rookie Ciatrick Fason.

Coach Mike Tice said that the sore quadriceps of Mewelde Moore tightened up before yesterday's game, but Moore said that "it actually loosened up," according to the Star-Tribune. Tice also said that the team's medical staff "notified me (Moore) wasn't in any mental shape to go out and be an impact." Moore had just one rush yesterday, as Michael Bennett was the primary rusher for the Vikings. Tice has been critical of Moore's toughness in the past.

"Mewelde will start," Tice said. "The reason that Mewelde didn't play was because of the wrist. That is the end of it. There was no other reason. Mewelde is the starter at tailback, and I thought we were better served not to play him."

Mewelde Moore will start on Friday against the Chargers in place of Michael Bennett, who is suffering from a sore neck, according to the AP. In two preseason games, Moore leads the team with 86 yards rushing and a 7.8-yard average. "He has had a great preseason," Coach Mike Tice said. "I am happy to see that he is getting this opportunity. Unfortunately for Mike, you know Mike's injury gave Mewelde this opportunity. But that's football. Injuries happen. We all know that." Moore is also likely to start the season opener if Bennett is not ready.
