The Minnesota Vikings crafted a salary cap-friendly contract with wide receiver Bernard Berrian that allows more than half of his guaranteed money to count against their 2008 salary cap, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Berrian's $16 million in guarantees includes a $5 million signing bonus and two roster bonuses: $8 million this year and $3 million in 2009. Therefore, his 2008 cap number is at least $9.44 million - the sum of the first roster bonus, his $605,000 base salary and the prorated portion of the signing bonus. Berrian, who spent his first four NFL seasons with Chicago before joining the Vikings as a free agent, will receive $23 million over the first three years of the contract.

The Vikings have officially come to terms on a six-year deal with Bernard Berrian, this according to Fox Sports. Berrian was considered by many to have been the second best talent on the market behind Randy Moss, and while that might be true the discrepancy between the two is huge. Even as the No. 1 receiver for the Vikings, Berrian is a fringe second receiver in traditional formats.

Bernard Berrian was seen wearing a Vikings cap while at their headquarters on Saturday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. That may be a sign that he wants to sign with the Vikings, but a more telling sign was what personnel head Rick Spielman said when asked if Berrian was there to negotiate a contract: "Well, he’s not here to visit Minnesota." If Berrian can't work out a deal with the Vikes, then the Raiders, Titans and Niners are expected to take a stab. Meanwhile, things just get darker by the hour in Chi-town.

Bernard Berrian who is visiting Minnesota today, is expected to visit the Raiders next, according to the Chicago Tribune. Tennessee and San Fransisco reportedly will also be players for the free agent wide receiver. Berrian would seem to be a great fit for Oakland, giving them a deep threat that young JaMarcus Russell could use.

The Minnesota Vikings hope to visit today with free agent wide receiver Bernard Berrian, according to FOX Sports. The Berrian to Minnesota rumors have been in the air for a couple of days. It wouldn’t be a major surprise to see the coveted wide receiver land a contract with the Vikings, who could certainly use the upgrade in the receiver corps. However, there are reports circulating that Tennessee and San Francisco could enter the fray, creating a bidding war for Berrian who is the most popular receiver on the planet right now.
