Bernard Berrian was upgraded to questionable Friday, though he's still not expected to play because of his rib injury, the Bears official site reports. Berrian did not practice with the team, either, on Friday. Justin Gage and Rashied Davis will pick up extra snaps against the Giants with Berrian out. "Improvement is being made, but it would take a lot for (Berrian) to play this week," conceded head coach Lovie Smith.
November 10, 2006
Bernard Berrian was moving around better on Thursday and while he's still not expected to play Sunday against the Giants, it's possible the Bears may upgrade him from doubtful on the injury report, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Berrian was initially expected to miss 2-4 weeks with his rib injury. Berrian said when he returns, he might get outfitted with a flak jacket to try to protect the area, but he realizes he'll be exposed running down the field. "I'm going to be smart," Berrian said. "If playing and being hurt is going to hurt the team, I'm not going to play."
