D.J. Hackett returned to the practice field on a limited basis on Wednesday, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. He has missed the last four games with a sprained right ankle.

Hackett has been out with a high-ankle sprain, but it appears that he's ready to go now. Hackett and Burleson both should see plenty of action, but you might want to let Hackett get his legs under him before putting him into your lineup.

The Seahawks are hopeful wideout D.J. Hackett will be back on the field for the team’s Week 7 game against the Rams, according to the Seattle Times. He hasn’t played since suffering a high ankle sprain in the season opener. If D.J. has any setbacks, don’t be surprised if the team decides to hold him out of Week 7 to give the ankle two more weeks to heal since they have a bye the following Sunday.

He suffered the injury on his only game of the game in Week 1. Mike Holmgren told the paper Hackett may miss a month. This opens the door for Nate Burleson to enter the starting lineup and will give Bobby Engram, who led the team in receiving yardage Sunday, more snaps than originally anticipated.

Hackett, who was a sleeper candidate entering the season, caught one ball for seven yards before exiting. We should know more about his status for Week 2 after he's examined further on Monday.

Seahawks head coach Holmgren still has not made a final decision on who will start at split end in Week 1, D.J. Hackett or Nate Burleson. He did tell the Seattle Times that it will come down to has the better week of practice. Hackett had 63 yards and a touchdown against the Bucs in Week 17, so we had high hopes for him this week. However, our enthusiasm is curbed by the fact he can’t fend off Burleson for the starting gig.

Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren told reporters after Monday’s morning practice that Deion Branch is locked in at one starting receiver position and D.J. Hackett has the inside track on the other, according to the Seattle Times. No real surprise here, although it is nice to get confirmation from the head cheese himself. Branch is the biggest name in the receiving corps, but we feel Hackett has the greatest potential to help fantasy teams.
