December 24, 2006
For the second time in five weeks, the Ravens defense shut down Willie Parker on Sunday. He had 29 yards on 13 carries today after rushing 10 times for 22 yards in Week 12. Parker and the Steelers face the Bengals on the road next week.

Willie Parker tore through the Browns for a team record 223 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers 27-7 win Thursday night. Parker entered the game with 976 yards, good for eighth in the NFL.
November 12, 2006
Willie Parker rushed for a career-high 213 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries on Sunday against the Saints. Parker had two runs greater than 70 yards, but, remarkably, neither went for a touchdown.

Steelers coach Bill Cowher said he's not concerned about the workload that Willie Parker is shouldering, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Parker is on pace for 378 carries at this point. "I'm not going to jeopardize trying to win a football game," by limiting his carries, Cowher said. "It's something that I said earlier, but it's something that we have to keep in mind as we go and see how this unfolds. It's something we'll continue to monitor, but I think right now he's fine."

Willie Parker rolled for 133 yards on 31 carries Sunday. More importantly, however, is that fact that he converted on two carries near the goal line. The Steelers can't seem to decide on who they will use as their goal-line back, but it was certainly Parker this week.

Although Steelers head coach Bill Cowher said in the preseason that Willie Parker would get goal-line chances this season, that doesn't appear to be the case. Parker came out of the game in favor of Verron Haynes in a goal-line situation in the opener. Cowher admitted Tuesday that the Steelers would like someone to fill the role held by Jerome Bettis last season, whether that's Haynes, Duce Staley or new acquisition Najeh Davenport.

The Steelers signed Willie Parker to a new four-year contract Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Parker finished the 2005 season with 1,202 rushing yards, the sixth-highest single-season total in Steelers' history. With Jerome Bettis retired, the team is expected to lean on Parker even more this season.
August 24, 2006
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Willie Parker will stay in the game when the Steelers are near the goal line, at least to start the season. Bill Cowher left open the possibility that someone (Verron Haynes or Duce Staley?) could step into a goal-line role at some point. "If somebody starts to surface and becomes that guy, as the season goes on I wouldn't rule it out," Cowher said.

Willie Parker did not practice with the team on Thursday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Neither the Steelers nor Parker would say why, but a teammate said he was sick.
