The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Braylon Edwards may not be ready for the start of next season, because he has had to wait nearly a month for the swelling in his knee to go down before undergoing surgery. He's scheduled to have his ACL repaired on Tuesday, a procedure that likely will take him about nine months to recover.

Braylon Edwards will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, according to the AP. He suffered the injury while trying to make a leaping catch in the fourth quarter Sunday. Players typically need eight to 12 months to recover from a torn ACL, however, Edwards expects to be ready for the start of the 2006 season. "Definitely," he said. "Opening day next year I'll be a guy on the field. I think I'll be ready full-speed ahead." Surgery has not yet been scheduled because doctors are waiting for the swelling in Edwards' knee to go down.
