The Jacksonville Jaguars made it official on Friday and acquired wide receiver Troy Williamson from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick, according to the Sports Network. Minnesota is expected to receive a sixth-round pick in return for the highest drafted wide receiver in Minnesota history. Williamson is a first-round bust, who was selected by Minnesota with the pick they received in the Randy Moss trade with Oakland back in the day. Williamson started eight games with Minnesota in 2007, catching 18 passes for 240 yards with one score, and returning 17 kicks for a total of 387 yards. Sometimes a fresh start does a player good, but Jacksonville has been a graveyard for wide receivers since Jimmy Smith retired after the 2005 season.

Updating a previous report, it seems almost certain that Troy Williamson will be traded to the Jaguars, this according to a report on the Pioneer Press. The trade cannot be announced until Thursday, at which time they Vikings will announce that they have shipped out Williamson for a pick on the second day of the NFL Draft, according to the report. Players with the physical gifts that Williamson possesses often find themselves given many chances in the NFL, though this might be Troy's last chance if he can't turn things around in 2008.

Troy Williamson appears to be headed on his way out of town, according to a report by Jon Clayton of ESPN. Clayton is reporting that it appears that a trade will be announced the first day of free agency, and that Williamson appears headed to the Jaguars, Browns or Dolphins. Speculation is leaning toward the position that Williamson will likely be moved to the Jaguars since Mike Tice, the former Vikings coach, is on the coaching staff there.

Count the Jaguars among the teams interested in Troy Williamson, who recently received permission from the Vikings to shop himself around the league as trade bait, according to the Florida Times-Union. His agent contacted 14 teams, eight of which appear to have some level of interest. The Vikings might be willing to send Williamson off for as little as a second-day draft pick. He's been a total bust thus far but has the type of speed that can stretch the field, which is why there would be significant interest at the right price.

Troy Williamson has been given permission from the Minnesota Vikings to shop himself around the league, according to the Star Tribune. There is speculation that the organization might release the first round bust whose career has been plagued by dropped passes. Adding insult to injury, the Vikings actually selected Williamson with the 1.07 pick in 2005, with a pick obtained from Oakland in the Randy Moss trade. Williamson has started 21 games, compiling 79 receptions, 1,067 yards and three scores during his three-year career.
