The Packers signed Vernand Morency to a one-year, $927,000 deal, according to the NFL Network's Adam Schefter. Morency is nothing more than a third-down back and will have value only if injuries hit the rest of the Green Bay backfield.

Vernand Morency will make his 2007 debut on Sunday against the Vikings. He is listed as the starter for Sundays game.

Vernand Morency practiced on Friday and is listed as probable on the injury report, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. He has not played this season due to a knee injury he suffered on the first day of training camp.

Vernand Morency was limited in practice on Thursday, but theres a chance he could start on Sunday against the Vikings. He looked good two days in a row, head coach Mike McCarthy told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. I think hes put together back-to-back practices where in the past hes been frustrated the day after a hard practice because of the way he feels. Morency has not played this season because of a strained patella tendon in his right knee.
